Homemade Mixed-Berry Fruit Roll-Ups

I was never much of a fruit roll-up kid, but I really wanted some for my 3-body-problem-themed meal, so I made healthier versions at home.

This recipe is straightforward! And you don’t need a dehydrator. You just need a blender, oven, cookie sheet, and some parchment paper.

Also, some people prefer to call this fruit leather. I think the name really depends on how you cut it. This recipe is fruit leather as well.

Making the Fruit Roll-Ups

The Ingredients

Of course, since we are going healthier, there is a natural sugar option and real fruit. This makes these fruit roll-ups safer than store-bought ones full of preservatives, coloring, and flavoring agents.

Additionally, since these are dehydrated, they have a long shelf life so they are still pretty convenient.

The Process

  1. Blend the fruit
  2. Pour onto a lined cookie sheet
  3. Dehydrate in oven for 6-8 hours
  4. Roll up or cut into shapes

Cut em how you like!

These are easiest to just roll up in the parchment and cut into strips. This is my favorite for two reasons

  1. It is most reminiscent of the OG 80’s fruit roll ups I remember as a kid
  2. It’s the easiest

You can also cut them into shapes for fun like I did for the 3 body problem-themed meal. These are little dehydrated trisolarians.

This recipe is very versatile. Change the fruit, add seasoning like ginger or cinnamon, and get creative with flavors! Just basically add a bit of lemon juice to preserve and keep it tart and enough honey or sweetener to tmatch your preference.
