Description
A healthy twist on a classic dessert: this apple crisp is made from nutritious real foods and nationally sweetened, perfect for gluten free, dairy free, sugar free or vegan friends!
Ingredients
    The crisp
  • 3/4 cups oats (gluten-free)
  • 3/4 cups almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (melted)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove
  • The apple filling
  • 4 apples (2 Braeburn, 1 granny, 1 gala)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons maple
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
Instructions
    Directions
  1. Mix maple, cinnamon and melted coconut oil in large mixing bowl.

  2. Peel and slice apples. Add to bowl and toss in maple-cinnamon mixture until well coated.

  3. Set apples aside for about 30 minutes, letting the cinnamon and maple soak into the apples

  4. Preheat oven to 350

  5. Mix all crust ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
  6. Spread half of the crumb mixture evenly across the bottom of an 8x8 pan

  7. Add apple mixture to pan

  8. Top with the rest of the crumble mixture.

  9. Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes or until slightly golden brown.

  10. Serve warm or cold with coconut whip cream or ice cream
  11. Enjoy!

Note

Apples: I use a mixture of sweet and tart apples since there is limited added sugar in this recipe. You don't need to use 2 Braeburn and 1 gala, but I recommend 3 sweeter red apples mixed with 1 tart granny smith apple.
