I first met the Made In Nature girls at FabBlog Con 2016. I was a brand new baby blogger but they were nice, encouraging and welcoming. And they gave me a couple bags of Made in Nature coconut chips. That was pretty much when the love obsession started.
From then on I was a straight-up fangirl. I started putting coconut chips in everything and scoping out places to buy them when I traveled.
Recently I got the chance to drive up to Boulder and hang out with the ladies from Made in Nature. So I obviously jumped at the chance. Sprouts sponsored the event and I have to say, it was a sure fire way to impress a food blogger.
We got to spend time in their beautiful boulder test kitchen, with an entire display of ingredients they use to make the figgy pops. Then we got to MAKE OUR OWN!
If you’re a food blogger and you’re let into a room with ingredients spreads out all over the table, in one of your favorite snack companies test kitchens, you’re bound to get a little excited.
The Figgy Balls
I made two figgy balls, both with chocolate, duh.
When we made them, I was really in a spiced mood. I loaded them up with cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon and orange zest. They were yummy.
Figgy pops are the made in nature answer to energy balls or fat bombs. They are the first company to have shelf ready energy balls available for purchase at the grocery store, which is pretty awesome.
They use apricot and date paste as the base and mix in nuts and other fruits. So far my favorites are the coco-crunch with tart cherries and crunchy pepitas (have we noticed a theme… I have a chocolate problem) I also enjoy the ones with the nut butter inside!
A truly Natural Snack Company
It can be hard to find a good snack company, especially when you read ingredient labels. So many packaged foods have added preservatives, unpronounceable chemicals and loads of sugar, but are labeled “all natural.”
That’s why it is so refreshing to see this brand consistently say no to harmful additives. You can scour the labels and will not find one hint of refined sugar.
The Made in Nature Coconut Chips
My all-time favorite made in nature snack is the coconut chips. They take flaked and dehydrated coconut and load them up with delicious spices like cinnamon and ginger masala. And they have just a hint of sweetness with real maple syrup. I think they are my favorite store-bought snack.
Here are some of my favorite ways to use Coconut Chips
- Sprinkled on Chocolate Avocado Mousse
- Loaded on top of my banana nut bread with almond butter
- On chia seed pudding
- By themselves by the handful
- On paleo breakfast bowls
- As the star of my Masala Chai Brownies
- GORP 2.0
- Atop Smoothie Bowls
- Did I mention I just eat them plain?
You can also grab dates, apricots and other dried fruits and nuts. These make a great mid-afternoon snack. And if you haven’t tried date bombs, I seriously suggest them.
